Sad News
The last word I have from the team in Nigeria is that a normal sense of peaceful tension has returned to Maduguri and life in the city has resumed as before. However, one sad note that brings the terror closer to home concerns the pastor who had been taken captive and then released. Apparently, he was not released but had escaped his captors only to be recaptured and then killed. Please remember his family and congregation when you pray.

Boldness, Wisdom, Favor
As to the talks with the villagers and chiefs regarding the land acquisition, I was promised that our leader on ground would be meeting with the chiefs in August. As yet, I have heard nothing of such meetings whether positive or negative. My hope for this trip in Oct/Nov is that my being there will invigorate and motivate our brethren to accomplish these necessary steps so that we can move forward with this project. This fall trip marks 2 years since we were approached by the brethren at Yauiri to join them in fellowship and leadership and our momentum has stalled in moving forward. I need your prayers that God would give me the boldness, wisdom, and favor to be assertive with the brethren and chiefs as God leads. However, if this is a STOP or SLOW sign from the Lord, let me have the wisdom and understanding to know that, too.

A Closer Harvest
Concerning my plans, I am still looking forward to traveling Oct. 25 - Nov 9. Though we will have medicine along to conduct clinics as usual, as I stated earlier, my main objective will be to obtain the land acquisition. I have already begun the purchase process for the tickets and medicines and will soon be applying for the all necessary Visa. As always, your help to us in meeting these expenses to do the work that God has called us too, is both appreciated and humbling. I believe that the harvest is more than just the ingathering. It includes the entire process of tilling, sowing, fertilizing, watering, weeding, nurturing, etc., and then the reaping. With your faithful support, the end of the harvest is closer each time. Thank you so much for your faith in this ministry and your obedience to God as He speaks to your heart of sowing seed.

I have shared this thought before, but God recently quickened it to my heart again as I was preparing for a message at church. The Word - Routine. When Jesus fed the 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fishes, we see the miracle as being the multiplication of the few to feed the many. And that is true. But where did the 5 loaves and 2 fishes come from? I believe from a faithful mother who never dreamed of, nor aspired to fame and recognition. She was just doing her duty as a loving, caring mother by providing simply for her son. Her faithful routine that day blessed 10's of thousands and continues to be a blessing and inspiration to the believer today even as she remains known only to God. Our twice yearly outreaches are also routine in what we do, where we go, and to whom we minister. Yet, Sarah and I are sure that this is the ‘routine' that God has called us to. Likewise, many of you our partners have ‘routinely' given to this ministry to enable us to go and do. Sarah and I want to encourage you to believe, as we do, that your faithful, steadfastness to this ‘routine' that God has given us all to do will one day result in the blessings of 10's of thousands. And our reward? The name of Jesus will be Glorified and the Kingdom of God shall be Exalted!!
