How to Help

November, 2004

Accepted - Approved - Issued

My visa is in hand despite unforeseen obstacles in trying to submit the application for approval, but God has once again shown Himself “More Than Enough” in whatever situation we are faced with. We have received the necessary  medicines and supplies for the trip and I am packed and ready to travel October 27 through November 10 on our regular Fall Nigeria Outreach. I have been in contact with members of the team in Nigeria and they are expecting and looking forward to my coming, even as I am excited about going. As you know, this is a doubly exciting trip for me as I will be the guest speaker at the wedding of Nicodemus Tumba, one of our team members. What a privilege it is to be able to share this joyous occasion with this young man who has been so steadfast and loyal to this cause.

Haiti Plans

Even as we are making this trip to Nigeria, plans continue for our first Haiti Outreach, December 27 through January 1. We are looking forward as a family to make this outreach to be able to minister the "Love of Jesus, The Reason for the Season," to the precious children who are alone in this world, but for the compassion of Bishop Jeune and his wife. Thanks to all of you who have responded to the call for the orphans shoebox Christmas. There are 82 boys and girls in the two orphanages that we want to minister to at $10 each. To date we have received $450 in money and pledges. Thank you so much for sacrificing to make a brighter Christmas for these dear ones. We welcome you to join us if you feel led to spend a Christmas season being blessed even as you are a blessing. Just contact us by November 15.

We invite you to partner with us in other areas as well that will help us continue to reach out to those in need by Unlocking the Gospel Door with the Key of Medicine.

We, of course, share care packets with our Nigerian patients during each trip at a cost of $.35- $.40 each. These include flip-flops, soap, candy, body cream and such. Typically we see 750-900 patients during each outreach. Also, for $435, we are able to obtain medicines worth 2 to 3 times that amount that are very specific for the needs we see. And of course, if your family doctor or pharmacist has samples/supplies that are near out-of-date. then we would welcome these as well. The types of medicines that we have the most need of are: Tylenol/Motrin (adult/children), anti-fungal creams, eye ointments/antibiotics, broad spectrum antibiotics (we see a lot of stomach/respiratory ailments and skin infections) and vitamins for adults, children and expectant mothers. If you feel the Lord laying on your heart to partner with us financially, either on a monthly basis or perhaps a one-time gift for a specific project or trip expense, be assured that 100 percent of all monies go to the need designated.

Nigeria 2005

Feb. 23 will be here before you know it, and that is when we are scheduled to leave for Nigeria again on a combined Medical Outreach/Teaching Mission. Our family is preparing to go again this year and the children and Sarah are all looking forward to it with excitement and longing. We have not stopped talking about our family trip 2 years ago, and it is a little sad here at the house that they are not able to go on this month’s trip. If you would like to join us for this outreach returning on March 14 contact us ASAP.
